Inspired by the Neo-Futurists, The PANTS Co. attempts to perform 30 outrageous, hilarious, curious, uncomfortable, poignant, gut-wrenching, unabashedly original plays in one whirlwind-of-an hour. Fresh, and made-to-order, no two shows are ever the same!
"Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind" was created and perfected by The Neo-Futurists, an experimental theatre company based in Chicago. The premise was simple: perform 30 plays in 60 minutes, in an order determined by the audience. The show opened in 1988, and was so successful it continued to run every weekend since. The show now lives under the title "The Infinite Wrench". Inspired by the Neo-Futurists, The PANTS Co wanted to make their own bold attempt at writing and performing 30 original plays.
Established in 2010 at Emporia state university with just a few people, and inspired by the neofuturists, The Pantomime and Non-Traditional Theatre Society made their own bold attempt at writing and producing 30 original plays. Over a decade and 300 plays later, the troupe has gained over 50 members with chapters in Lawrence, Wichita, and now Kansas City. This DIY company continues to put on provocative and emotional productions that make a lasting impression.
